BIHAR ELECTION RESULT 2020: NDA FORMS GOVERNMENT IN BIHAR
Bihar Elections finally concluded after weeks of campaigns, 3 phases of voting and approximately 15 hours of votes counting. The National Democratic Alliance led by BJP emerged as the winner securing another term for Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had significantly contributed in the rallies. The NDA led coalition government easily crossed the majority mark of 122 seats out of the total 243 seats. BJP won 74 seats while JDU was able to secure 43 seats.
RJD emerged as the single-largest party with 75 votes but was not able to form the government as it’s alliances performed badly. Congress contested for 70 seats but was only able to secure 19 seats. The LJP, which was led by Chirag Paswan, was only able to secure one vote.
As the counting was in progress, the race to the majority was a very close one. BJP has emerged as a bigger party in the NDA alliance which may affect the chances of Nitish Kumar becoming the Chief Minister again. Initially, at the start of the counting, the opposition party was leading. RJD led by Tejaswi Yadav emerged as the single largest party and proved to be a worthy opponent.
The main focus of the campaign in Bihar was unemployment. Tejaswi Yadav promised 10 lakhs jobs while BJP claimed to offer 19 lakh jobs in Bihar. COVID-19 had delayed the Bihar elections. It had posed several problems. Finally, the results are out and up until now, BJP-led NDA alliance is set to form the government in Bihar with Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister.
IPL 2020: MUMBAI INDIANS SECURES THE IPL 2020 WINNERS TITLE
Mumbai Indians became the IPL champions for the 5th time. The final match of IPL 2020 was played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Rohit Sharma yet again proved his competency by smashing 68 runs in 51 balls, leading his team towards victory. Mumbai Indians have never lost an IPL match under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, making him one of the best skippers of the IPL franchise.
In the final match, DC set a target of 157 runs for Mumbai Indians which seemed easy for the team. Rohit Sharma also achieved another milestone of completing 4000 runs in IPL for Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma’s performance in the final match was evident in his top form. It also served as a befitting reply to the selectors who had been doubting Rohit’s capabilities because of the health and injury concerns.
