It is found that Arnab Goswami has no connection with the suicide case for which he has been arrested. On Wednesday a team from Mumbai police went to his residence to help Maharashtra police.
SUICIDE CASE: IN DETAIL
Republic TV owner and editor in chief was arrested on Wednesday in connection to a suicide case of 2018.
Interior designer, Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik were found dead in their bungalow in Alibaug in May 2018. As per the investigation by the police department it has been found that the interior designer had committed suicide and his mother had been strangulated and did not commit suicide.
It is believed that Anvay first killed her mother and then committed suicide. Thus police has registered a case of accidental death and a case of murder. Anvay’s body was found hanging on the first floor by the caretaker of the bungalow and his mother’s body was found on the ground floor sofa.
HOW IS ARNAB GOSWAMI RELATED TO THE SUICIDE?
On investigation the police has found a suicide letter in English in which Anvay has written that he and his mother both decided to take this extreme step due to non-payment of dues from owners of three companies i.e.
- Arnab Goswami of Republic TV
- Feroz Shaikh of IcastX
- Niteish Sarda of Smartworks
The suicide note further added that the three companies had to pay Rs 83 lakh, Rs 4 crore and Rs 55 lakh respectively to Naik’s company,
Concorde Designs Pvt Ltd.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED AFTER TWO YEARS?
The local Raigad police that was assigned to investigate the case had closed the case in April 2019 stating that they did not found any relevant evidence against the accused named in the suicide note of Anvay.
But in May 2020, Anvay’s daughter has approached the Home Minister of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh to reopen the case.
The home Minister posted on Twitter in May that Adnya Naik has approached him to reopen the case of his father’s suicide and mother’s death stating that the case was not investigated thoroughly.
The Home department has transformed the case to CID in may 2020 but they had said that they have not found any evidence against Arnab Goswami.
