Ecole Globale International Girls’ School hosted the Inaugural edition of the Sardarni Kawaljeet Kaur Memorial Tournament from 16th August to 19th August. The Tournament aimed to celebrate the spirit of camaraderie and fairplay which is fostered through sports. 16 teams from Dehradun and Mussoorie were a part of the maiden edition.
Mr. Riyaz Uddin who is a very accomplished Indian basketball player was the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony.
A series of matches were played over four days. The skill, stamina and endurance that the players displayed was commendable. The final between Wynberg Allen School Mussorie and Ecole Globale International Girls’ School, Dehradun was a keenly contested match with several nail biting moments. The athleticism , jumping ability, speed of the players from both the competing teams drew loud applause from the spectators at all times.
The Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony was Maj General Shandy Gupta(Retd). A celebrated army veteran and a keen sports enthusiast he witnessed the final match. The Guest of Honour was Mr Mandeep Grewal Secretary for Basketball Association of Uttarakhand
Ecole Globale International Girls’ School were the winners and the Runners Up trophy went to Wynberg Allen School Mussorie. Krishna Nagrani from Wynberg Allen School Mussorie was adjudged the Most Promising Player of the Tournament. The trophy for the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament went to Astha Khetan from Ecole Globale.
Principal Ms Khandke showered encomiums on both the teams for the prowess they displayed on the court.
