On Saturday the students watched the Academy Award winning short documentary film – ‘ The Elephant Whisperers ‘. The film which is directed by documentary filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves explores the bond between animals and humans. It portrays the life of an indigenous couple who look after a young elephant – Raghu. The stunning visuals of Tamil Nadu, the antics of Raghu and Ammu, the other abandoned calf and the display of emotions add to the charm of the movie.
It was a truly heartwarming piece of art, focusing on the bond shared by the Elephants and tribes living in Mudumalai National Park.( Though the highlights of the documentary would be the entry of Ammu, the couple having to give up Raghu and the marriage of the two Elephant Whisperers. )
